Change Management Support for Orthopedic OR Reengineering
The Orthopedic OR team desired to increase throughput of a surgical discipline and scale that to the other surgical practices within the health system. Their specific focus was on reducing OR turnover time, increasing OR utilization and increasing employee satisfaction.
Third River facilitated OR team members in practices including “Identifying a Greater Goal,” sharing leadership with groups that had not usually been central to such decisions (e.g., Nursing, Finance, HR, etc.), raising the bar through After Action Review, and providing real-time feedback to one another to accelerate results.
Program pilot measurements showed a 30% increase in case throughput, 15% increase in productivity and a 20% increase in employee satisfaction scores among nurses, physicians and anesthesiologists. Ongoing multimillion-dollar impact was achieved.
