How we Partner with You

We offer these partnering observations:

  • First and most importantly, we seek partnerships with those organizations and leaders who are serious about changing and getting performance results. Your ultimate success is of greater value to us that the financial investment that you make with us.
  • We come alongside you to tackle tough challenges together, while at the same time equipping and enabling you with the capability to repeat this powerful process in the future - with or without our help as you desire.
  • We seek to be in deep conversation with you about your most significant concerns. We desire to help you to hear your own wisdom in addition to the wisdom which we offer. We respect, listen to and seek to build upon your ideas and what is important to you.
  • We do not over-complicate our process and solutions; rather we “de-mystify” them for you. We deliver the “behind the scenes magic” while keeping it simple in front.
  • Our solutions are customized for you. We offer the advantage of our decades of experiences, learning, and leading sources of knowledge and success.
  • We are determined to enjoy our work with our clients. We love to win - and to have fun along the way as well.
  • We take our work very seriously - but take ourselves lightly. We strive to be refined but not pompous; sophisticated but not overly important, solid but not stodgy and confident but not vain.
  • We care deeply about the science and truth of what we do. We recognize that while we do not know it all, we believe strongly in the energy and value of what we bring to our work. We continually strive to expand our understanding of the best contemporary research and practices in our field.
  • In all that we do, we value and seek to bring clarity, honesty, and balance to our relationship with you. You deserve no less in a partnership.

Partnering with Human Resources

We have a broad range of experience in assessing and improving the performance of human resource practices. We aim to align human resource processes in a manner that will reinforce strategy execution and the development of leaders. We work with our client partners to develop a scorecard that ranks the importance of their human resource processes and the current gaps in their ability to help achieve strategic success and leadership development.

The human capital processes we examine include competency management, career development performance appraisal, succession planning and leadership, recruiting, workforce planning, workplace design, rewards and recognition, employee relations, human capital strategy, learning management, knowledge management, and human capital administration.

We use a scorecard model to collect strategically important qualitative and quantitative measures of leadership development success and to look systematically at how human resource processes are translated through capabilities into key performance drivers and business results.

Measures include: Objective assessment of the improvement of individual and collective leadership competencies, the positive strategic and financial impact of projects, performance appraisal improvements for targeted leaders, success in closing the gaps in global leadership competencies, measures of human resource systems support for accelerating leadership development, the performance of external consultants, cost and return on investment analysis for the leadership development program itself, and impacts on other qualitative measures like culture change and the external image of the company.

The data we will collect are useful for management's oversight of the program. They are also useful for reporting to your board and rewarding individuals for their contribution to the success of the program.

How we Measure Success

There are many measures for the success of a business. At Third River Partners, our own scorecard focuses on the extent to which:

  1. We provide a value proposition and services that produce results.

  2. We partner with great clients to drive great success.

  3. We live what we suggest to our clients- to become what we are calling others to become. An old Shaker Saying suits us well: Be what you seem to be, and seem to be what you are- "Heaven and earth are threads of the same loom."

  4. We work on a team that has great people that are treated well and are nurtured so that they can flourish, give their best, feel inspired, appreciated, and dignified

  5. We have fun in what we are doing - and who we are doing it with. We are determined to enjoy our work with our clients

  6. We live with integrity and with the appropriate integration of work, family, and life

  7. We like each other, we are for each other and we would like to help our clients enjoy this

  8. Our clients work with us because they will discover more fully who they are - and who they can be

  9. We invest our time, our energies and our money in organizations and efforts which transcend the temporal to provide eternal value
